A Birthday Treat!
My boyfriend offered to take me away as a Birthday gift this year. He wondered if I wanted to go to a big city, we played with thoughts of going back to London once again.. The idea just didn’t excite me, and since I’ve been feeling a little more stressed as of late, I looked into the idea of having a more relaxed few days somewhere a little more secluded…
Thats when we found the Yurts!
Calwich Under Canvas is home to four traditional Yurts on a private site right on the edge of the Peak District.
It is described as the perfect ‘glamping’ experience for couples or small families to enjoy, with its own wood fired Hot Tub and Sauna it really is the perfect description of Nature meets Luxury.
Plus there is Luxury Washrooms with under floor heating and a Kitchen Hut complete with ovens and a Fridge and Freezer. They also give you a beautiful Breakfast ‘Welcome Hamper’ to enjoy on your stay, with all locally sourced items. A great thing was they were happy to supply for myself as a Veggie too, so my boyfriend could have the whole Bacon, Sausages and Eggs deal while I was able to have some fantastic Vegetarian Sausages with some beautiful ‘homemade’ bread.
Each Yurt also has its only little sitting area outside to enjoy either breakfast in the morning sunshine, or to enjoy dinner as its complete with a candle and little fairy lights.
The inside of the Yurt really holds a ‘wow’ factor but still feels like a home away from home. From the colour scheme I’m sure you can tell we stayed at the ‘Lavander’ yurt.
It holds a dining table, a large bed and 2 single sofa/futons that guests could sleep on. It also has pretty bunting around the whole of the Yurt which I love!
As you can see, there is a clear hole in the ceiling too which is perfect for letting in the natural light from outside in the day time, or for being able to see the beautiful night sky.
There are also lots of things to see and do around The Yurts, from locations to go on long walks, many different places to eat and little towns to visit.
The Peak District is a wonderful place to go out for a full day, with lots of areas to explore and lots of animals roaming, such as sheep, cows and deer!
We also explored the pretty little town of Ashbourne, and found this adorable Pub to eat on my birthday called ‘The Parks’.
They served the most delicious pizza, but it was so huge that we ended up taking the rest back with us for a midnight snack, haha!
After doing lots of exploring, going back to the Yurt can feel a little cold at night. Though, after getting that log fire going and having all the many candles supplied in the Yurt lit,it feels so romantic and warm, it really is a feeling thats hard to beat!
So would I recommend Calwich Under Canvas? Absolutely! The place is kept beautifully clean and tidy, the staff are wonderful and friendly, the location is beautiful and we felt relaxed and happy with our time there! Honestly, I would go back again and again!
